What is a Child Visa for Australia?

A child visa for Australia allows an eligible child to live in Australia with their parents or other family members.

There are two main types of child visas:

  1. Subclass 101 Child Visa: This visa is for children under 18 years of age who are sponsored by their parents or guardians who are Australian citizens or permanent residents. This visa allows the child to live in Australia permanently and access education, healthcare, and other benefits.
  2. Subclass 802 Dependent Child Visa: This visa is for children aged 18 to 25 who are dependent on their parents and are sponsored by them. This visa allows the child to live in Australia temporarily and access education and limited healthcare benefits.

To be eligible for a child visa, the child must:

  • Be sponsored by an eligible parent or guardian.
  • Meet certain health and character requirements.
  • Provide evidence of their relationship with the sponsoring parent or guardian.
